Everyone LOVES a long weekend.
It’s a new week, well technically already Tuesday but definitely feels like a Monday. Bailey was off yesterday due to Columbus Day, weird I know but its a city employee perk and Hadley and I enjoyed having daddy home for another day. Unfortunately, Friday evening Bailey came home feeling extra tired and then Saturday woke up with a pretty rough cold, I unfortunately came down with it Saturday evening and we were both sniffle-y and snotty messes the past few days. Thankfully Hadley has gone by unscathed for the most part, but nothing a little Benadryl and a humidifier can’t fix! So Bailey and I have been taking Sudafed around the clock and NyQuil PM Severe at night to try and beat this, we are still congested a little but MUCH better. Saturday was spent laying around, watching TV and getting “better”. On Sunday, Bailey was feeling better so he took Hadley and they made a trip to Lowe’s so they could get supplies to make us a “farmhouse” type bench for the front porch. Hadley LOVES anything fun and holiday themed (just like her momma) and of course Lowe’s had some fun Halloween cut-outs, so Hadley had to take pictures and sweet Daddy sent a few to me to enjoy from home!
So Sunday afternoon Bailey constructed our “farmhouse” type bench based on this post and sanded it all down. Yesterday, we went outside bright and early to enjoy the fall-like weather we are thankfully getting this year. Hadley and Malachi (our almost nine year old Husky) ran around and played in the back yard and Bailey and I began painting and staining the bench. Malachi, like I mentioned above will be nine in December and of course is getting older, but the cooler weather makes him so happy so he runs around like a mad man and Hadley can’t get enough of it. She giggles and chases him and it probably last all of about 5-10 minutes, but I love how happy they are and how much they love their new home. He didn’t “love” her to begin with but now he can’t get enough of her and of course she has just been infatuated with him from the start. Seriously y’all minus the horrendous shedding, huskies are the BEST kid dogs; they are the absolute sweetest!
So, it took Bailey about an hour to build the bench on Sunday and took us probably double to paint/stain it but seriously its beautiful. We made the bottom look a little more “rustic” so that takes time, lol. I’m so happy with the finished product and thankful for my handy hubby!!! He always makes my ideas or pinterest posts come to life and I’m SO happy with how it turned out! We made trips to the front porch a LOT last night, just to “look” at the bench. We couldn’t sit on it yet, because the poly was still drying, lol.
Again, major props to my handy hubby! He does an awesome job, and makes sure they are extra sturdy and finished to perfection! LOVE it, thank you SO much Bailey!!!
So now we are back to the “work week” and I woke up by myself today, 🙁 but Hadley and I cuddled for a bit in bed and enjoyed the cooler weather this morning before heading to Wal-Mart for the essentials early afternoon. I am SO thankful to be able to stay home and work from home with her and not miss anything. It is truly the best feeling in the world to see her grow and learn new things and know that I’m not missing ONE thing. She is the BEST thing that has ever happened to me and I am in total disbelief that she will be turning FOUR at the end of March and starting Pre-K next fall. Time, please please slow down.
